Water work will save 1.5 million litres of water a day

More than 1.5 million litres of water will be saved everyday through pipe replacement work in Reading.

According to Thames Water the £2.7 million project to replace ageing water mains will save enough water every two days to fill and Olympic-size swimming pool. The new scheme means that seven kilometres of ancient cast-iron pipes will be replaced by plastic.

Through saving so much water, the Reading area will have a positive effect on the environment and water supplies in the area will become more efficient. It is very important to not waste water supplies, this shows Reading supporting sustainable development.
