Recycling Rate above 40% in England

The figure takes into account the proportion of household waste sent for recycling, composting or reuse between October 2009 and September 2010, shows an increase up from 39.7% in the previous financial year.

The level of household waste sent to landfill in England has dropped to 45% showing a decrease of 5% between the financial year 2009/10 and the year October 2009 to September 2010 to 11.9 million tonnes.

Increased recycling may been due to increased aware of environmental issues on the topic by environmental experts.
