London firm sets sights on improved biodiesel quality

London-based Uptown Oil’s participation in a London Development Agency (LDA) programme has helped it to improve its recycled oil production processes.

The company’s Stuart Buckingham underlined the importance of the collaboration with experts at London South Bank University – an opportunity that emerged through participation in the Agency’s Knowledge Connect programme.

He said: “As a result we opened up new opportunities and markets and have even been able to share our new knowledge collaboratively with other London biodiesel companies that are still struggling with these same issues.”

Uptown Oil supplies caterers, schools and restaurants with vegetable oil and collects the used by product afterwards and turns it into low carbon biodiesel.

The LDA collaboration also enabled the company to make cost savings and take advantage of new opportunities for expansion in these areas.

European Regional Development Fund support also helped to enable the collaboration, which other small businesses are encouraged to take advantage of.ADNFCR-2805-ID-19542706-ADNFCR
