Wales marks Sustainability Week

A series of activities are taking place from 21 to 27 May to mark Wales Sustainability Week.

The awareness event aims to encourage people to take specific actions – including reducing, reusing and recycling their waste – to make Wales a more sustainable nation.

Environment minister John Griffiths spoke at the launch of the week at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

“Sustainability is about defining the long-term development path for our nation, and sustainability lies at the heart of the Welsh Government’s agenda for Wales,” he said.

“This means that when faced with hard choices we choose the option that works best for the long term, such as helping Welsh citizens and businesses to use energy more efficiently to prepare for future price rises.

“Taken as a whole, this approach will promote the economic, social and environmental wellbeing and enhance people’s quality of life in Wales.”
