Green Office News – Park Royal set to become the Silicon Valley of London for Green Tech

Boris Johnson recently pledged support for a major project that has two things in common with Wiles Greenworld:

  1. It will be located in West London
  2. It’s main focus will be the environment and sustainability

Have you guessed what it is?

A Green Technology Hub. Growing by six per cent a year, the green tech sector is outstripping many other parts of the economy, and totalling nearly £30 billion annually in London.

It isn’t much of a surprise that Boris Johnson is excited about the prospect of having the largest green tech hub outside of California. Not only will this help stimulate the economy but it will demonstrate commitment to increasing the air quality in London which has been receiving considerable negative media attention over the last few months.

The arrival of Crossrail and HS2 combined with a link to a thriving community of researchers from Imperial College’s new campus at White City makes Park Royal an ideal location for the hub. Showing continued support Matthew Pencharz, the Mayor’s senior environmental adviser stated “we hope this clean tech hub in west London can put low-carbon rocket boosters on this sector”.

Wiles Greenworld continues to recognise the issues posed by London’s relatively poor air quality and is supporting this through early sponsorship of Change London’s Air Sensa network which provides air sensors throughout London and makes the data openly available.  This allows evidence based policy making but also evidence based lobbying in the hope that improvements will be made for everyone’s benefit.

We are also very excited, as London’s sustainable office supplier, that like-minded companies are potentially setting up on our patch. Let’s hope this come to fruition sooner rather than later.
