Green Office News: As oil wells get deeper, are the oils becoming smarter or more naive?

A few years ago, the largest oil spill in history occurred a few hundred miles of the south east coast of America in the Gulf of Mexico. The cleanup operation is still going on and the company responsible, BP, has put aside $46 billion to fund it.

The thing is this hasn’t stopped other oil companies from cashing in on the riches that lay under the sea bed; in fact the opposite is true as Shell has just announced plans to start on the deepest well yet, a whopping 3km beneath the sea bed at a cost of billions of dollars.

So as the stakes rise even higher in the region, have the oil companies learned their lessons or they operating under more risk?
