Carbon Trust says Wiles Greenworld’s proof is in the Standard

A lot of work has been put into achieving certification with Carbon Trust Standard through a number of carbon saving measures, in order to reduce carbon emissions since the merger between Wiles Group Ltd and Green World Supplies Ltd in 2006.

Wiles Greenworld aims to offer less harmful for the environment office supplies, as we are committed to sustainable practises. In order to prove our genuine and robust environmental guarantee we took the opportunity to take part in the UK’s first online assessment and certification service for small businesses from the Carbon Trust Standard Company.

Despite and industry benchmark decrease of 20% in sales, Wiles Greenworld has achieved escalating appreciate for sustainable goods with sales increasing by 7%. We believe that sustainability initiatives are opportunities to increase the company’s competitiveness, expand our marketing strategy and pass our savings onto our customers.

Wiles Greenworld has implemented procedures to monitor environmental practises and a footprint tracking system to generate reports on the company’s environmental performance. Some other measures we have taken are, using low consumption LED, T5 and sensor lighting, introducing panels and windows to brighten the office therefore reducing reliance on artificial light sources, upgrading heating controls, investment of computer systems reducing paper, increasing electronic trading, encouraging remote working through modernising telephone systems and changing 70% of distribution vehicles to LPG Liquefied Petroleum Gas fuel.

Ongoing and future plans involve recycling scheme to customers, installation of air source hear pumps and photovoltaic (PV) panels to use more renewable energy and Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving training for all drivers. We are also planning to reapply for the Standard in two years time, as recertification is only awarded to those than demonstrate an ongoing capacity to keep reducing their carbon footprint, which is what we plan to do!
