Canada facing backlash for Kyoto exit

A number of countries have criticised Canada’s decision to formally withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol on climate change. The Kyoto Protocol is a protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC), aimed at fighting global warming.

A spokesman for France’s foreign ministry called the move “bad news for the fight against climate change”, a sentiment echoed by other officials. In defence Peter Kent, Canada’s minister of the environment, has said the protocol “does not represent a way forward”.

Observers at Wiles Greenworld London office supplies company believe the move by Canada will hinder global efforts to combat climate change. Businesses across Canada will struggle to get motivated to reduce their carbon footprint, consume green products and fight for sustainability.
