Businesses doing their bit to save energy

A growing number of businesses are taking action to save energy, a survey from the Forum of Private Business (FPB) shows.

According the survey results, 41 per cent of firms have streamlined business processes to make them more efficient, while 28 per cent have reduced energy use.

In addition to this a further 28 per cent of businesses say they have purchased energy efficient equipment to reduce the cost of energy bills.

“Small businesses see the benefits of green practices and technologies to the environment and, given rising energy costs, to their bottom lines,” claimed Phil Orford, chief executive of the FPB.

However, there are challenges that still face firms, particularly smaller companies. Wiles Greenworld, London office supplies distributor and green office management consultants is one company that has overcome the challenges of energy reduction. The company which is known for environmental office supplies and its free London recycling service says that its strategy has been to educate staff about responsible consumption.
