Alternative Fuels

Thomson Airways is to become the first carrier in the UK to use sustainable bio fuel on a passenger slight later this month. They are planning to use cooking oil to run a passenger flight between Birmingham and Palma. The company has suggested that by using sustainable bio fuels they could slash long term aviation emissions by 80%. The airline has also ordered 13 Boeing Dreamliners which the manufacturer claims use 20% less fuel than comparable jets within the airline industry.

Here at Wiles Greenworld we also use alternative fuelled vehicles. LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) is used in the majority of our distribution fleet which has meant we are able to reduce our carbon emissions year upon year. It is this sort of innovative thinking and ethical decisions that has lead to us winning 2nd place in The Sunday Times Best Green Companies, having been listed for the last three years.
